Some interesting facts about Lake Superior:
The basin of the lake began to form 1150 million years ago. Approximately 12,000 years ago the basin was filled by the melt waters of glaciers that were pushed south.

Lake Superior is 350 miles long, 160 miles wide with a maximum depth of 1332 feet. It holds approximately 2,900 cubic miles of water and has a water surface of 31,700 square miles.
